Today Microsoft announced a couple of key titles for their Games for Windows - LIVE service. Both are revivals of long-running PC game franchises that went dormant after their developers closed shop.
Age of Empires Online is a multiplayer-oriented real-time strategy game being developed by Robot Entertainment. It features a persistent online capital city that continues to evolve even when you log off. It will also have co-op multiplayer quests and trading so you can interact with friends. A level-based progression system gives the experience a role-playing game feel. AoE Online will be available in 2011 via digital distribution. It is currently in closed beta. For a chance to get into said beta, sign up at the game's website. Microsoft revealed much less about Microsoft Flight, the other PC exclusive announced today. It's a successor to the long-running Microsoft Flight Simulator series and is said to bring a "new perspective" to the flight sim genre. A teaser trailer is available at the game's newly launched site. |
