Having trouble with your green thumb? Don't worry, Mama fix. Majesco Entertainment has announced that everyone's favorite parental unit, Gardening Mama will be making a triumphant return to the great outdoors in Gardening Mama 2: Forest Friends, set to hit the Nintendo 3DS sometime this April.
By now, any gamer worth their salt has at least heard of Cooking Mama, the hugely popular 3DS series that sees players learning their way around the pots and pans with mini-games meant to simulate stirring, flipping, slicing, simmering and the like. Mama occasionally takes a step away from the kitchen to take part in other household chores, it would seem, as spinoff series Gardening Mama is finally set to receive a sequel this spring.
“Mama is going green again in a brand new stylus-based experience that challenges players to grow 50 fresh flowers, fruits and vegetables her animal friends can sell in their woodland shops,” reads the official statement from Nintendo.
So, wait...Mama's friends are a bunch of talking animals that run their own woodland establishments? Apparently one of the mini-games will feature Mama doing copious quantities of LSD in order to make this particular fantasy a reality. That's a surprise mature turn for an otherwise family-friendly game.
Like in Mama's previous outing to the back yard, Gardening Mama 2 will require the player to utilize the 3DS' stylus to complete a bunch of mini games including planting seeds, tending to them, watering, weeding, etc. As for those woodland stores you'll be providing goods for, there are six total, including Bear's Restaurant, Rabbit's Flower Shop, Cat's Beauty Shop and more. They'll send requests for various products and its Mama's job to provide them through the magical are of scratching, tapping and swiping a plastic screen with a plastic pen.
Apparently these cheapskate critters only pay Mama in points for a job well done, which she can then use to purchase decorative items for her garden, as well as additional seeds, more space, etc.
Is one of those “fun new outfits” a straightjacket? I still can't seem to move past this whole “working for animals” situation and am starting to think that maybe Mama should try leaving the house from time to time. She's clearly going a bit stir-crazy.
Insane or not, Gardening Mama 2: Forest Friends is headed our way in just a couple of months. Look for it on the 3DS this April.
