Epic said that Gears of War 3 will wrap up the story of Marcus, Dom, and the rest of Delta Squad. They mean it, too. In a new interview, design director Cliff Bleszinski said that the game's campaign DLC won't bring back those characters.
"We have some DLC that’s coming up. We’ve confirmed we’ll be doing campaign DLC. One thing I can tell you is that you’re not going to see Marcus or Dom or Cole in it," Bleszinski said in a chat with Guardian. He added that Grand Theft Auto IV and Borderlands were examples of games with well-executed DLC. "I believe that DLC should be unique and cool, like Lost and the Damned, Gay Tony, Mad Moxie’s Underdome Riot. All those kind of things. DLC’s the place where you play and have fun. So that’s one thing that’s an indication of where things may be going in the future." Epic has at least four downloadable content packs planned for Gears 3. The DLC is said to expand both the multiplayer and campaign. The first add-on is slated to arrive in November. Players will have the option of buying a Season Pass for 2400 MS Points ($30) that lets them get all four DLC packs as they're released. You can also purchase the content individually. However, it's supposed to be 33% cheaper to get the Pass. The Pass also gives you a Liquid Metal reskin for your weapons. Gears 3 arrived in stores today in North America and Europe.
