Bungie has released the first screenshots from the Halo 3 "Legendary Map Pack", a purchasable content pack planned for a spring release. The screenshots give us a look at "Ghost Town," a map centered around the ruins of a 24th century water purification plant in the jungles of Africa.
Halo 3 artist Cameron Pinard notes on a Q&A on the Bungie website that "Ghost Town" is geared toward One Bomb and One Flag game modes because of it's asymmetric design, but goes on to say that overall, the map is general purpose. The ruins featured in the map are northwest of the hydroelectric facility featured in the single-player campaign's first mission, "Sierra 117" and the map shares the visual feel of that mission.
While Bungie did give us some attractive screenshots to chew over, there's still no word on an exact release date for the "Legendary Map Pack." Like the "Heroic Map Pack" released in December, the Legendary pack will have three maps and will cost 800 Microsoft points ($10). As we get closer to the spring, I'm sure we'll get some details on the pack's other two maps, which have the strange code names "Cottonball" and "Moonlight Sonata."
