While the headline rings true, the game is not actually entering closed-beta, yet. Hi-Rez Studios released news indicating that the company has reorganized efforts with network management corporation, Internap Network Services, to help stabilize and propel the success of their MMO, Global Agenda, forward. In other words, the game is gearing up to kick-butt and take names. Using this advanced networking technology, Hi-Rez claims that Global Agenda is now up for the task of handling a closed-beta.

“Given our game’s fast pace and huge scale, we needed a solution that offers the lowest network latency possible, while giving us great flexibility in managing spikes in demand,” said Stewart Chisam, vice president of game operations at Hi-Rez Studios. “The combination of Performance IP and Managed Server from Internap solves that problem for us and offers a scalable, secure and reliable technology platform to support the players of Global Agenda.”

The reason they needed a networking solution for Global Agenda is because the game rids players of the 10 or 20 servers allocated to play the game. Global Agenda allows players and all agencies to compete in on-demand instanced-areas, competing within the same meta-game, as opposed to stretching players across the fore-mentioned servers.

“Global Agenda is a breakthrough game from both a technology perspective and a gameplay perspective, and we are very excited to bring it to market using Internap’s infrastructure services.” said Chisam.

The technology was especially needed due to the game's action-oriented premise, despite the fact that it's set within the genre of an MMORPG: factions, guilds and espionage galore. I keep thinking it's like Unreal fused with Diablo. Personally, I think this is one of the most important games to keep an eye on for this year.
