The mother, er, father(?) of all monsters makes his return to the world of video gaming. This time, it’s all about unleashing total mayhem on the Nintendo Wii. Running on a new engine and featuring all new destructible cities, playable monsters and multiplayer modes, Godzilla: Unleashed is aiming to resurrect the tainted genre of giant battling monsters.
Personally, I don’t think this game will go much farther than any of the predecessors in the 3D Godzilla franchise. The problem is that there’s not too much you can do with these kind of games. But who knows, maybe Atari and PipeWorks Interactive have more up their sleeve than what it appears. Even as a fan of MechaGodzilla, I can’t help but think that maybe this game could be plagued by the unfortunate disease called sameness.
But who knows, maybe Godzilla: Unleashed will surprise us sceptics. Maybe it will actually be good. Nevertheless, you can check out the screenshots and fact sheet below, as the game is made ready for its holiday season release later this year.
Godzilla: Unleashed Fact Sheet:
• Multiplayer modes supporting up to four players;
• A completely redesigned massively destructive 3D fighting system;
• Innovative and re-playable non-linear storyline;
• 23 playable monsters including classic and new Toho (original creators of Godzilla) approved monsters;
• A minimum of eight intensely destructible environments featuring partial building pieces and updated physics;
• Inventive fighting mechanics including power-up upgrades, breath weapons, hand-to-hand combat, grappling moves, and more.

I got Godzilla Unleashed for Wii and cannot get the multiplayer working so my brother and sister can play at the same time.
