A new server called “The Grand Line” has been added to Tales of Pirates and it has little to do with being an individual hero and everything to do with effective teamwork. That actually makes a ton of sense given that in many MMOs players feel like they’re on there to be a hero and completely forego partying or using strategic teamwork.

According to the press release…

In PvP, superior gear will give way to superior tactics and skill. The region's Item Mall will not include some extreme and high-class equipment, but rather showcase items like the newbie package, daily consumption items and decorative merchandise. Vets will not be allowed to move their superior equipment and items to the new region…

I’m sure some players may not like the regional item locking, but I say good riddance. It’s about time an MMO enforce teamwork for once by limiting players in exercising solo-heroism. Gamers who actually go on to experience an online multiplayer adventure will at least be able to do so where teamwork and multi-player efforts are rewarded.

In addition to the new “Grand Line” server, the ToP team will also be hosting a number of events coinciding with Thanksgiving. Some of the events will include Leveling Contest, Multiple EXP Carnival and Sand Bag Critter's Party, to name just a few.
