Sony Online Entertainment released some new screenshots of the Green Lantern for the upcoming PC, PS3 MMORPG, DC Universe Online. It’s funny how this game has been pushed aside big time for the much talked about Champions Online by Cryptic Studios. Now that doesn’t mean that it won’t be just as good, if not better than the evolved version of City of Heroes.

I suppose it was smart of SOE to push back DCUO to 2010 to avoid any direct release comparisons with Champions. Already, though, DC Universe has better looking visuals and more dynamic looking characters. It’s quite obvious in many of the screenshots, including this new batch containing the Green Lantern.

DC Universe Online lets players create their own hero and play alongside any of DC Comics famed masked heroes and villains. Yes, this does create the awkward scenario of having hundreds of Supermans running around with various parties, but it’s better to have the option of playing alongside a hero than not having the option at all.
