The phenomenon that is Guitar Hero is bigger than you. It’s bigger than me. Hell, it’s even bigger than Lou Diamond Phillips performance in the movie Bats (and that’s saying a lot.)
So it should come as no surprise that yet another iteration in the rock out with your socks out franchise is going to be coming out soon. But who would of thunk that it would come out with such an awesome premise?
Guitar Hero: Rock the 80s, which Destroctoid.com claims is set to launch on July 18th, is going to feature some of your favorite hair metal bands and (hopefully) synth heavy tunes. Already confirmed are “I wanna rock,” by Twisted Sister (yes!), “I Ran,” by Flock of Seagulls (No!), and “Holy Diver,” by (wait for it) DIO!
The game is set to be a PS2 exclusive and will be yet another game people are going to call the system’s swan song (as if claiming God of War 2 as the system’s swan song wasn’t just a bit premature, especially with the PS3’s crummy sales).
Also of note are the new mods that can be found on-line to import new tracks into G Hero 2. I’m not really sure how it all works, but it looks pretty complicated. Even so, playing “Burnin’ For You,” and the Inspector Gadget theme song may add a bit of longevity to the game if you’re tired of playing “Freebird” for the umpteenth time.
