Activision has announced two new track packs for the popular pretend rock game Guitar Hero III. This time you’ll be going metal as you play make believe that you’re Zak Wylde, and Ozzy is singing right next to you. Now available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace and the PlaystationStore is the Modern Metal pack.
The trio of songs included are: “Hole in the Earth” by the Deftones, “Almost Easy” by Avenged Sevenfold and “The Arsonist” by Thrice. So if you have a need for loud modern metal, you should at least be mildly happy. If you want to be ecstatic then you’ll have to wait until St. Patrick’s Day gets closer when Activision releases a special pack for free.
A trio of songs from acclaimed Celtic punk band Dropkick Murphys will be available mid-March. They’re all from the band’s sixth album, The Meanest of Times, which means no rousing renditions of “For Boston.” But Dropkick Murphys are a kick ass band, and their inclusion on Guitar Hero is mighty welcome. Especially at the price of free. How will Rock Band retaliate? Perhaps a Pogues pack, or Flogging Molly.
