One of the most talked about games of 2006 was HellGate London. Not only was it talked about in high regards, but it was praised for taking the action-adventure concept into a whole new direction of interactive gaming. While the initial gameplay mechanics might appear to be generic, hack-and-slash, run-and-gun, it’s what lies beneath that makes this game so much more.
The main aspect of the game’s “next gen” praise comes from its random “dungeon” generating. It’s the one thing that the developers hail as a feature that supports unlimited replayability. How true that is suits the topic of another article. But this RPG action game will have players wielding swords, guns and all sorts of radical weaponry.
Now instead of getting into the nitty gritty of the rest of HellGate London’s features, I’ll simply cover the basics of what’s present in the trailer. Gamers will basically get a glimpse of some of the character classes present, as well as a detailed look at some of the fancy weaponry that will be at the player’s disposal. I’m not particularly fond of the strange shooting mechanics, but maybe in the final version of the game it’ll have something more FPS friendly.
