Hellion: Mystery Of The Inquisition Coming In 2010

published: 2009-03-24 12:53:44
Flying Fish Works has announced that they’re working on a new FPS for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, and it’s expected to hit retail shelves in 2010. It’s good they gave gamers a heads-up about this title, because hopefully it’ll receive enough hype to be remembered by the time the release date rolls around.

According to the press release, players will engage Hellion “…as an armed man of the newborn Inquisition, the player will battle heretics, execute exorcisms, face demons and unintentionally become part of a political and religious intrigue”

In essence, this sounds an awful lot like Hexen. It’s more like a spiritual successor for the Hexen/Herectic series, based on the description above. Players will also experience authentic 13th century environs, animals and wildlife, while battling knights and demons. Nice.

“Our vision is to create a historical fiction game that will put the player in the center of the medieval world, full of its cruelty, intransigence and diversified beliefs. In this ruthless reality, the player will become an eyewitness of great political machinations, unseen brutality and betrayal. He will pave his way to the truth just to find that it is more horrible and dreadful than anyone could imagine.” says Simon Grabowski, CEO at Flying Fish Works.

There isn’t much more described about this game and no screenshots were released. At this stage it’s extremely difficult to gauge how good this game could be given the limited description of the gameplay. What we do know is that Flying Fish has stated that they are using the latest in gaming technology to design the game effectively for the consoles and PC. But I’ll wait to give my real impressions on this title until we see some screenshots and get a real description on the gameplay mechanics.
