It appears that the Wii will be getting a little more mature in the near future. Developer High Voltage revealed their new title Gladiator A.D. yesterday and it looks quite bloody.

The title, which will target the Wii's more hardcore audience, is High Voltage's first exclusive on the family-friendly console. According to High Voltage's Kerry Ganofsky, Gladiator “[is the] next step in filling the holes in the Wii’s library.” The game will feature a unique battle system as players choose a gladiator to fight with and develop him over time as he wins battles. There will be both one-on-one combat and other “more complex” situations.

Ganofsky added that “Gladiator A.D. is going to redefine the fighting game genre on the Wii.” It looks like Nintendo is getting serious about bringing back their hardcore faithful. Gladiator is due out in Q1 2010. IGN will exclusively reveal a second new High Voltage title later today.
