The PS4 is now in stores throughout North America. You forgot to pre-order and now you might be wondering how you can get your hands on the console. Well, you've got a few options.
Are any of the options particularly good? No. You're going to need a lot of money or patience. Here's a break-down of what you can do:
While PS4's were snatched up in huge numbers on launch day here in North America, Sony's got more on the way. Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Andrew House told Game Informer last week that he believes they'll have an adequate supply for all countries they launch in.
“We are ensuring that we have the broadest reach to ensure that people are satisfied, especially when they’ve been loyal to brand for so long. On the other hand, we’re not engendering frustration by having a shortage of supply. I think through the holiday season that we’ll be in good supply. The sales target that I announced for the company is five million units sold by the end of our fiscal year. March 31, 2014”
We've reached out to Amazon and GameStop to see if and when they anticipate getting more PS4's. If we find out any helpful information, we'll let you know. In the meantime, you should contact your local retailers (or slightly less-than-local retailers) to find out details as well. It's possible some locations still have some stock. A little bit of initiative could pay off for you. I mean, you should've taken the initiaitve back in June and pre-ordered but whatev. Best of luck in your hunt, gamers.
The PS4 will launch in Europe on November 29th. Countries throughout Asia will receive the console in December. The roll-out will end with Japan on February 22nd.
