Free-to-play Half-Life 2 mod Insurgency is getting a sequel. New World Interactive, a company made up of many of the team members from the first game, is now seeking development funds for the game through Kickstarter.
Insurgency 2 is a modern-day shooter with "high speed tactical" gameplay. While the game has many realistic elements (no crosshairs on screen, inaccurate hip firing, etc.), it's also meant to be fast-paced and easy to learn. The game emphasizes teamwork rather than Rambo tactics. The sequel differs from its predecessor in some important ways. You can now pick from light, heavy and standard classes that determine your armor, speed and ammunition capacity. Your choice of class won't affect what weapons you can wield; weapons are obtained by weapon caches at your team's spawn. Another new addition in Insurgency 2 is an "Occupy" game mode similar to "King of the Hill." The game's Kickstarter drive will run until September 8th. New World is seeking $180,000 in total. Considering the sizable fan base that the HL2 mod had, I imagine that they'll hit their goal pretty easily. Back to top
