Today Black Inc. announced Ion Assault, a space combat game coming to Xbox Live Arcade this summer. They didn't leave themselves much time to hype it but luckily the trailer is pretty convincing.
Ion is a top-down space shooter with one big twist: to attack enemy ships and asteroids, you need to collect the free energy particles swirling around and then unleash them. After you've depleted your stores, you'll repeat the process. In addition to the standard "pew pew", you'll have weapons like a black hole creator.
There's 20 levels in Ion, spread over four different campaigns with their own boss. The game will have online leaderboards so you can measure your performance against gamers worldwide. According to the trailer, there will also be competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes but no details were revealed.
Game's priced at 800 Microsoft Points ($10). Be sure to check out that trailer.
