If you're looking to purchase a Wii this holiday season, there's no sense in waiting. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata says that they have no plans to lower the console's $199 price tag.

"Of course, we cannot say it will never happen, but we are not thinking of it for the near future," said Iwata about the possibility of a price cut on Friday. As the AP notes, the comments came a day after Nintendo reported its first six-month loss in seven years. Nintendo posted a loss of $24.7 million from April to September.

In August, Nintendo announced price cuts for the DSi and DSi XL. It makes a bit more sense for the handhelds, though, because the 3DS is set to launch early next year. Nintendo has yet to announce a successor for the Wii.
