Jack The Ripper Fights Evil In Video Game?Author: Pete Haas

The Ripper, the Jack the Ripper game revealed in a recent trademark filing by EA, will not follow the historical account of the 19th century serial killer. Visceral Games will make some creative changes. For example, he's going to be a good guy in the game.
Destructoid, citing unnamed sources, says that video game Jack kills supernatural beasts instead of prostitutes. Maybe they're supernatural beasts disguised as prostitutes? That would be hot. Anyway, Destructoid's source also say that Jack will have a variety of outlandish weapons at his disposal and he'll be able to - ugh - slow down time. The reworking of Jack the Ripper might annoy some but did you really expect historical accuracy? After all, Visceral Games is the same studio that turned the book Dante's Inferno into a scythe-wielding knight's murderous rampage through Hell. Plus, this is a video game and gameplay tends to trump all other concerns. EA has yet to formally announce the game so we don't know when it'll arrive. Visceral's made Dead Space games for the PS3, PC, Xbox 360 and Wii so we really can't nail down the game's platform yet either. |
