On Monday, EA announced that it acquired the global video game rights for all of Robert Ludlum's works, including the Bourne series. The Bourne video game rights were previously held by Sierra Entertainment, which published Bourne Conspiracy in June 2008.

EA also mentioned in the announcement that a new Bourne game was in the works at Starbreeze Studios. The Swedish studio is perhaps best known for creating The Darkness and The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. They're also currently at work on The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena.

According to Edge, the Bourne game is not the secret project that Starbreeze announced back in February. At the time, they said they were working with EA to reinvent a classic franchise. Wonder what classic EA franchise they're talking about? Oh, please be Mutant League Football.
