GAMING BLEND
John Carmack Is A Wii FanAuthor: Pete Haas

Given John Carmack's resume, - co-founder of id Software, lead programmer of Quake and Doom - you'd expect him to be a devotee of one of the more "hardcore" consoles like the Xbox 360, PS3. Seems he's partial to the "family-friendly" Wii, though.
"Interestingly, I actually spend far more time playing Wii with my four year-old boy than I do with any other game console," said Carmack in a talk with MTV Multiplayer. "I’d like to do something there, because I love a lot of what Nintendo has done with the Wii and the DS, but it’s just out of sync with the developments that are currently going on at id." If id Software did do a Wii game, though, it would be a game from one of their established franchises like Doom or Quake. "We would use one of our existing IPs where we have a little bit of leverage." Interesting interview. Apparently he's really big on the iPhone too. That's not to say that id isn't pursuing projects with the PC, PS3, and 360, though. Currently they're working on Doom 4, driver/shooter Rage, and browser-based FPS Quake Live. |
