Kodokawa Games and Grasshopper Manufacture Inc.’s latest action game, Killer is Dead is slated for a summer release and now, thanks to a new partnership with XSEED, the game will also be coming to the United States for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.
Kadokawa’s latest project was Lollipop Chainsaw, an over-the-top action game featuring a plucky cheerleader who dispatches the walking dead with her bedazzled chainsaw. Grasshopper Manufacture’s Suda51, however, is probably best known for his similarly off-the-wall project, No More Heroes, which featured a young assassin on a quest to kill the world’s other greatest killers.
Killer is Dead is similar to No More Heroes in a lot of ways. It’s another action game featuring another assassin, this time named Mondo Zappa, on the hunt to “execute various heinous criminals scattered around the world,” according to a statement from Kaokawa. Mondo wields a katana in one hand and an assortment of weapons both practical and bizarre in the other.
Until today, it wasn’t known whether or not Killer is Dead would be releasing outside of Japan. But now it looks like a couple of helpful publishers have joined the cause, namely XSEED and Deep Silver. XSEED will be helping bring Killer is Dead to the United States while Deep Silver is pitching in to bring the game to Europe and Oceania.
In short, dear readers living in those territories, you too can anticipate enjoying Killer is Dead on either the Xbox 360 or PS3 when it’s released globally sometime this summer.
