Back in January, a rumor went around that Traveller's Tales was developing a LEGO Rock Band game. Silly as the rumor might seem, it turned out to be legit. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced the game this morning.

LEGO Rock Band is to said to "allow families, tweens and teens to experience a wild journey to rock stardom where they can 'Build a Band and Rock the Universe'." True to the LEGO franchise, the game will allow players to create their own LEGO band and entourage. Instruments from Rock Band "and other music games" are said to be compatible with LEGO Rock Band.

It's not known how many songs will be featured in total but there's going to be a mix of both old and new music. In their press release, Warner Bros revealed four of the tracks that will appear:
  • Blur - “Song 2”
  • Carl Douglas - “Kung Fu Fighting”
  • Europe - “The Final Countdown”
  • Good Charlotte - “Boys and Girls”
  • Pink - “So What”
The game will be released this year for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and DS. The console iterations will be developed by Traveller's Tales in partnership with Harmonix and they're bringing Backbone Entertainment on board to help with the DS version.
