The Last Of Us Screenshots Get Violent
Naughty Dog recently released a batch of new in-game screenshots for The Last of Us, their upcoming PlayStation 3 exclusive which is a little like I Am Legend meets vegetable zombies. The new screenshots show off more of the game world's desolation, as well as a brief, violent encounter with a straggler.
The shots come courtesy of Pikimal, who plastered up more than a dozen new shots of the third-person, survival-scavenging game.
Most of it looks like it's a rather paced and deliberate title that focuses on the core experience of keeping the characters alive...or at least, that's the way it seems to be portrayed in the screenshots.
If the game relinquishes run-and-gun gameplay for a slower, more methodical approach, it would definitely be a good change of pace from all the other typical shooters out there. That's not to mention that we don't often get games that focus on dramatic characterizations and scenario-based survival situations such as this. While some gamers might point to Metro 2033 or Resident Evil, it's definitely safe to say that the latter is no longer survival-horror and the former was a bit more closer to a linear version of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. than an actual scenario based character study.
Still, the shots below look pretty good and I'm glad Naughty Dog is using their expertise in third-person games to deliver something more unique and original in the AAA sphere than what we've been receiving lately.
