It's been a while since we've heard anything on Naughty Dog's upcoming PlayStation 3 exclusive, The Last of Us, but it looks like we won't be waiting much longer to finally get some additional details concerning the game. Look for a “world premiere” at the VGAs on Dec. 7.
From the team behind the Uncharted series, The Last of Us takes quite a few nods from the PS3's flagship series. The game is a third-person stealth/shooter, which means you'll spend plenty of time ducking behind bits of debris before deciding to off your enemies quietly or with, say, an exploding jar of fire.
The Last of Us is set in a post-apocalyptic U.S. where the main characters, Joel and Ellie, are simply struggling to survive. The cityscapes have been overgrown with plantlife and most of humanity has been turned into fungus-crazed zombies. Many of those who remain are just as dangerous.
Other than a couple of videos and brief demo walkthroughs, little else has been revealed concerning the game following its official announcement. But, according to a statement made on Naughty Dog's Twitter, that's all about to change. To save you the click, the tweet reads: Check out the new GameInformer to meet a new character from #TheLastofUs. See the world premiere at VGAs on Dec. 7.
So, there you have it. You can read up on a brand new character in the upcoming issue of GameInformer and, come Dec. 7, it looks like something special is going to be announced during Spike TV's annual video game awards show.
Just in case you've forgotten why you should even care about The Last of Us, here's a reminder:
