One thing that always worries the game lover is a title based on something else. It seems that games based on films or books never turn out as we’d like. Sure, unwitting masses flock to these atrocities…but that doesn’t excuse the horrid nature of the gameplay. It is with great trepidation that we wait for SEGA’s take on Iron Man. A video game that is based on a film we have yet to see, which is in turn based on a comic book hero that is often overlooked by the general masses. Providing a true entertaining experience in game form will be a great feat.

It helps that we have received a geekgasm inducing trailer that promises to deliver some sort of satisfaction. The new trailer is for the game – not the film, in case you were confused – and provides all the elements one would hope to see. Blue stealth Iron Man suit, flying, enemy tank destruction and lots of over the top action are all present. In other words, SEGA is capturing the spirit of Iron Man.

While there is always room to be hesitant, we can’t help but be optimistic that something fun is on the way. Movie tie-ins are so often bad, but now and then a Spider-Man 2 pops up to prove that it’s not always just a marketing ploy. With games becoming big business over the past few years some studios and publishers are taking the art of video games seriously.

And uh…oh yeah, the new Iron Man trailer is mother flippin’ bad ass!
