Pre-ordering L4D2 through Steam or participating retailers will get you an exclusive hat for use in Valve's other multiplayer shooter, Team Fortress 2. It's the beret that Bill wore in the first Left 4 Dead. You'll be able to get your hands on it as soon as you pre-order.
