You may not remember this, but the first downloadable content for the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV was originally planned for an August release. Obviously, it has not been released, and after Microsoft touted the exclusive DLC as the primary reason to buy the 360 version instead of the PS3 version, they've got some 'splaining to do. Well, they've at least made some reference to the DLC at Leipzig so it's a start.

They mentioned the DLC in passing at the end of their holiday line-up press release, saying that "In autumn there will be news from Liberty City; the first episodes of GTA IV will be available for download exclusively on Xbox LIVE, underlining Xbox 360's leadership role in the field of digital entertainment." Yep, that's it.

This either means that the first batch of GTA IV DLC will be available this Fall or they'll reveal the DLC's release date this Fall. My money is on the latter - I wouldn't be surprised to see this DLC in 2009, honestly. From a business standpoint, you probably don't want players purchasing additional content at the end of the year because it might curb their hunger for new games during the holidays. I'm probably overestimating Microsoft's nefariousness but hey, who doesn't?
