We’ve been hearing tantalizing news of a Wii game that will take full advantage of the Wii Remote to allow players to wield a lightsabre. Unbeknownst to us, except for a tickle in our spine, that game would be Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. LucasArts has announced that a Wii version of the game is in development.
In order for this port to happen, some major changes have to be made to the game we’ve been hearing about for months. Pixelux’ Digital Molecular Matter and the euphoria behavioral simulation are just not going to be there. I’d like to say that they could at least attempt to bring an abridged version of those technologies to the Wii, but that isn’t the case. No one seems willing to try and push the Wii to its limits at the moment, and the most likely reason is that efforts are being pushed in other areas of the Wii port.
Like what? Krome, who is developing the PS2 version as well, will be focusing the game mechanics around motion control. We’ve been looking forward to all the fancy force tech that The Force Unleashed has promised, and all we can hope for is that the lightsabre controls are highly refined. ”"We've worked hard to make the Wii version of the game unique in order to truly let you unleash the Force,” said Jim Ward, President of LucasArts. Funny, we thought all the technology in the 360 and PS3 versions was going to do that.
The Wii version will also boast an exclusive Duel Mode that pits players against one another in a test of their lightsabre skills. Let’s hope LucasArts can use their own powers to get this mode online, and not suck.

I agree, if they were all $250 I'd be buying all 3. The thing with the Wii is that graphics are not it's selling point. There not meant to be. The Wii's selling point is fun games with a new way to play. You may sit on your butt for 3 days striaght playing Halo 3, but I'll be standing up and moving around playing Sports or Super Smash Bros. or, and I thank the Lucasfilm Gods for this, dueling with Lightsabers in The Force Unleashed. And I can also set down and play interactive fun games with my kids that keep them entertained for hours on end (trust me, Mario Party is addictive). And where XBox 360 and PS3 may have better graphics, the graphics on the Wii aren't bad (take a look at Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix), most of the graphics complaints come up because of the style of Nintendo games. There not trying to be photo realistic, it's a design choice. I think the other systems look great. I have a problem with XBox 360 not being totally backwards compatible and the fact that Microsoft won't let anyone make anymore games for the original XBox (Sony a least got that right). I'd like all 3 of the systems, but for pure fun and familly entertainment, for the innovative interactiveness, and for the affordable price point - Wii is the one system to have.
If they were all $250 I would buy them all. I've been buying the most powerful systems, and playing the most graphically intensive games that have been available in stores for more than 10 years. Graphics haven't had as a significant impact on my gaming experience as they did when the N64 and PS1 first came out. The graphics aren't so sweet on the Wii, but I think what they did is better than just limiting their advances to more powerful hardware and a sharper picture.
What that tells me superdynamite is that the Wii and the 360 are the two highest selling consoles on the market, and therfore there are more of them to trade in.
No one can trade in the PS3 cuase no one has bought it :)
The Wii-mote is a Gimmick. I've played over 15 of the top selling games on the Wii. The graphics are horrible and the games are so boring you can't play them more than twice. The only reason the Wii is leading the Console sales race is due to the low price. Ask yourself this question; "If the PS3, 360 & Wii were all $250 which one would you buy?". Wii is the second most traded in console in GameStop/EB. 360 is #1. What does that tell you?
