It’s tough to argue that Madden NFL of today’s generation is the same as it was in the past gaming generations. Of course, we’re looking at a bigger development team, more costly ways to develop the game, full-on commentary, motion-capturing, etc., etc., etc., bogging down the prospect of innovation for the annual sporting franchise. Yet with all the fancy high-tech features, Madden NFL certainly isn’t quite as innovative in the way that it was back in the day.
Jager Michael from Stick Skills throws down an interesting history lesson of innovation that paved the way of success for the now ubiquitous Madden NFL franchise. One could easily argue that because of the lack of tech-heavy features the game was offered a much larger spectrum of ingenuity and innovation from the creative leads. However, one could also argue that with all the tech-heavy features of today, there are endless amounts of innovation waiting at the fingertips of designers to explore and exploit. The article details just how far the series has come along; showcasing the varied and unique tried-and-tested options, modes and in-game features that EA experimented with back in the day. To say the least, it definitely broadens the view of how we view Madden today as opposed to what it was back then. Any football gaming fan would be wise to check out the Stick Skills article for the full story, and be sure to stay tuned in with Blend Games for further updates, news and information regarding all things gaming. |
