French game development studio, Ankama, announced today that a new version of their popular anime-manga MMORPG, DOFUS is on the way and it will supposedly be unlike anything else out there. The game will infuse part interactive-cartoon elements with classic MMORPG gameplay.

According to the press release...

The game is set in a magical world, Amakna, where adventurers set off to recover the six missing “Dofuses” – magical Dragon’s eggs – with hidden, mysterious powers that captivate any who behold them. Along the way, players find themselves engaged and meeting new friends and foes.

Starting December 2nd, gamers will have access to DOFUS 2.0, which will feature an epic-sized fantasy world, tactical gameplay elements and a cast of unique and original characters.

The game is being hailed as something MMO gamers might want to experience if they’re looking for something “new” and “fun”. Seems like it’s worth checking out, at least. Besides, how many games promise to be “new” and “fun” all at the same time?
