Today EA announced that it was bringing a special edition of NCAA Basketball 09 exclusively to the Xbox 360 this month. NCAA Basketball 09: March Madness Edition will give players a chance to play the NCAA championship tournament themselves.

March Madness Edition will be available on March 11th through Xbox Live for 1200 Microsoft Points ($15). At first it will feature the teams from last year's tournament bracket an update will add this year's teams with revised ratings on March 18th. You'll be able to take any of the games through the entire bracket, which culminates with the Final Four match-ups at Ford Field court in Detroit.

EA has told Shacknews that gamers who already own NCAA 09 will receive a free update with the updated rosters and brackets. Also, as you may suspect, this March Madness edition will not come with all of the normal NCAA 09 features. Features like Dynasty Mode or ESPN Classic teams, for example, won't appear in March Madness Edition.

The real 2009 tournament, by the way, will kick off on March 19th on CBS.
