Mass Effect Could Become More Than A Trilogy

BioWare originally envisioned sci-fi RPG Mass Effect as the first installment in a trilogy. However, BioWare VP Greg Zeschuk says the series could last longer than a measly three games.

"We've said Mass Effect is supposed to be a trilogy so you're going to see at least a third Mass Effect, and even more if everything goes well," Zeschuk told GamerZines.

It reminds me of an interview that Epic Games' Cliff Bleszinski gave last year. He was asked if Gears of War would only be a trilogy and he responded that the last sequel is the one that doesn't make any money. I don't have the exact wording down but that's the general sentiment - you're going to keep making sequels if they continue to be commercially successful. The first Mass Effect seems to have done pretty well and if BioWare isn't bored with the setting after the third game, why not keep going?
