EA announced today that their military shooter series Medal of Honor is making a return next year. The next game won't be set in World War II, though.

Simply called Medal of Honor, the game will be set in Afghanistan. MoH will star the Tier 1 Operator, "a relatively unknown entity directly under the National Command Authority who takes on missions no one else can handle." The single-player is being developed by EALA, while the multiplayer will be handled by Battlefield studio DICE.

The first trailer for the game will be premiered at the 2009 Spike Video Game Awards on Saturday, December 12th. EA released box art for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC today but might be subject to change before the game hits stores. Regardless, you can check them out below.
