Wii U owners will be able to get their hands on Mega Man X this week. The SNES side-scroller will be available through Virtual Console on that platform starting on May 30th.
Mega Man X was the start of a spin-off series from the main Mega Man franchise. It takes place a hundred years into the future, with Mega Man X fighting a robot army intent on wiping out the human race. Yep, it's a bit darker than the general series. Capcom tried to use the storyline for a gritty shooter.
X retains the basic formula of the series. Players can choose to tackle levels in whatever order they choose, and earn a new weapon after defeating each boss. However, Mega Man X can also upgrade himself with armor capsules found throughout the levels. Additionally, he possesses the ability to climb walls.
Wii U players can experience the differences between Mega Man and Mega Man X for themselves. The original Mega Man hit the Wi U Virtual Console earlier this month.
