Two weeks after announcing that a third Metal Gear Online expansion was in the works, Konami has provided a date and price information for SCENE. They've also revealed extensive details on the new features being added.
On March 17th, SCENE will be available for digital purchase for $9.99 on March 17th. You can also buy it in a bundle with the GENE and MEME expansions for $17.99. Pre-ordering will open up on March 10th. Reserving SCENE in advance will get you a free piece of head gear for your character: a cardboard box. Raiden, the first of two special characters added in SCENE, is very agile and able to jump and fall great distances effortlessly. He wields a high-frequency blade that can deflect incoming attacks. When it comes time to kill something, he can use his blade or throwing knives. He'll also sport a visor that allows him to detect traps. Because Raiden doesn't have nanomachines in his body, though, he'll be unable to use or be affected by any SOP abilities. Vamp, the other character in SCENE, also specializes in close combat. He wields a combat knife and throwing knives and shares Raiden's jumping ability. As a nod to the character's immortality, he'll be resurrected in the same spot every time he dies. SCENE will also add a new game mode called Solo Capture, a free-for-all match in which players compete for possession of the "Kerotan frog." Each player has a personal timer which ticks down every second that they're in possession of the frog. The player who can get their timer down to zero first will win. For an added twist, players not carrying the frog will have their timers reduced if they're killed. Konami also revealed some of the new gear coming with SCENE: Bikini Outfit, Clown Face Paint, Haven Trooper Uniform Set, Resistance Uniform Set, Hockey Mask, Mohawk Wig, Short Cut Wig, Shirtless, and Robbie (Silent Hill character). The announcement with all of this information mentions that there's other stuff from SCENE that's yet to be revealed. Last week Konami released a trailer showing off the three maps that will be included with the expansion. |
