Yes, today is attack of the Midway news. This time, though, it has nothing to do with World War II, aliens or first-person shooters. Instead, both games announced for the DS and PSP are aimed at casual consuming gamers. From brain-teasers to touchscreen mini-games, Midway has your summer handheld collection covered.

Touchmaster for the Nintendo DS is a collection of mini-games based on the retro-classic Midway Touchmaster counter-top touch-screen arcade game systems. Touchmaster for the Nintendo DS will feature 23 finger-flipping mini-games that include (but aren’t limited to) Solitaire, Mah Jongg, Hot Hoops and Trivia. Nintendo DS gamers will also have tournament scores and daily rankings to access with the DS Wi-Fi support.

PSP owners will have just as much hand-haggling fun with their handheld, as Midway will bring a brain-teasing tapestry of time-challenging exercises with Hot Brain. Featuring the voice of Fred Willard, gamers will have hundreds of challenges to complete within five different categories. And what categories might those be? Well, they range from logic, memory, math, language and concentration.

“With both Touchmaster DS for Nintendo DS and Hot Brain for PSP, we’re able to tap into our experience with the casual market to create games that work perfectly with the unique controls and features of each portable system,” said Steve Allison, chief marketing officer, Midway. “Both titles will be able to provide quick three-minute gameplay experiences or extended play-session with puzzles, card games, brain teasers, trivia and more.”

Both games will be available during the summer of this year at your local retailers.
