Mirror's Edge, Dead Space Sequels Will Survive EA Cuts

EA CEO John Riccitiello revealed on a Tuesday conference call that the company wasn't meeting its holiday sales expectations and that they would be trimming back their future releases. Fans of EA's hottest two new IP's shouldn't be worried, though.

"Dead Space looks like a long-term big winner for us," EA CEO John Riccitiello stated during a conference call today. "Mirror's Edge is one that was very strongly reviewed. That one's gonna go forward--we'll be looking at some issues around the design to make sure strong IP is married with strong business."

It seemed a little strange to release new IP's in the midst of the holiday season when several popular sequels were stomping around. I ain't no big-city video game sales-ologist but it would've made more sense to release these games during less competitive parts of the year, right? At any rate, I'm glad Dead Space and Mirror's Edge will live to fight another day. They were both solid games and deserve another shot. Check out Blend Games' reviews of DS and ME if you're thinking if picking either up this holiday season.
