Modern Warfare 2 Won't Have Respawning EnemiesAuthor: Pete Haas

Fighting terrorists is about to get a lot easier. In Modern Warfare 2, enemies will no longer constantly respawn as they did in previous Call of Duty games.
Typically in a COD game, a constant stream of enemies would spawn and attack you until you advanced or completed an objective. Gamers have always had mixed reactions about it. On the one hand, it keeps the combat frantic and forces you to constantly be on the offensive. On the other hand, it can feel very artificial to have enemy after enemy spilling out of a little hut. "We are aware of it and we're actively trying to eliminate it," Infinity Ward CCO Jason West told Game Informer (via OXM UK). "I think we agree that it's not very good." Modern Warfare 2, unlike it's predecessor Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, will not bear the Call of Duty name. Eliminating the spawn system seems like one way they'll be trying to distance MW2 from the rest of the COD series. |
