Murasaki Baby, Kickbeat, Anomaly 2, More Hit PlayStation Consoles This Week

The wonderfully bizarre Murasaki Baby scampers onto the PlayStaiton Vita this week, leading the charge for an unexpectedly robust crop of titles hitting Sony consoles Tuesday afternoon. You can also expect the latest Naruto game, alongside an endless runner, a new rhythm game for the PS4, a strategic reverse tower defense game, a new JRPG and more.

I had the opportunity to take Murasaki Baby for a test drive during the 2014 E3 conference and couldn’t help but grin through the entire experience. In the game, players (literally) take the hand of the titular child and guide them through nightmare landscapes while solving puzzles.

My experience with the game was short, but it showed off quite a few of the game’s unique mechanics. I had to take Murasaki by the hand using the Vita’s front touch screen and guide her along. I could make her jump, trigger events to scare off nasty monsters, relocate a lantern to light the way and more. Keeping an eye on Murasaki’s behavior will give you clues as to what needs to be done in order to solve various puzzles. She won’t go into areas if she’s too scared, and “flipping” the level’s background can also have an effect on how you proceed.

It’s an intriguing little title starring a bizarrely endearing main character, and you can pick it up starting this Tuesday as a downloadable title for the Vita.

That’s only one of several titles hitting PlayStation consoles this week, according to the recently posted update on the publisher’s blog.

Fans of aerial combat have something to look forward to on their shiny new PS4 as Air Conflicts: Vietnam Ultimate Edition preps for takeoff. Anomaly 2 will also bring its award-winning strategy gameplay from PC over to the PS4 this week, letting players control the invading troops in a reverse tower defense game.

Fairy Fencer F should keep RPG fans happy on the PS3 this week, tasking players with diving into loads of dungeons, battling monsters and calling on the assistance of 100 furies in times of need.

The latest offering from the folks behind You Don’t Know Jack will also arrive on the PS4 and PS3 this week in the form of Fibbage: The Hilarious Bluffing Party Game. Lots of positive buzz has surrounded the Xbox releases of this game so, as a cross-buy title, it might be something to keep an eye on.

Kickbeat Special Edition also hits the PS4 this week, bringing an updated version of the fighting/rhythm hybrid to Sony’s new console. Those of you gaming on the PS3 can enjoy Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution, approximately the 147th game in that series, if I’m not mistaken.

Finally, the Vita will play host to Run Like Hell, the appropriately titled running game, while the PS2 Classics section will be bolstered by Meet the Robinsons on the PS3.

Look for all of that, along with your usual dose of new demos and various other bits of media, to hit the PlayStation Network this Tuesday afternoon.
