NFL Sunday Ticket Headed Back To PlayStation 3

What time is it? Game time! What time is it? Game time! What time is—well, okay, you get the idea. The NFL 2012 season is up and running, which means it’s time to gorge on as much football as humanly possible on a weekly basis. For you couch commandos in the audience, you might be interested to know that NFL Sunday Ticket is headed back to the PlayStation 3, giving you the chance to watch your favorite teams through your home gaming console.

SCEA Senior Vice President of Business Development, Philip Rosenberg, made the official announcement through the PlayStation Blog. The app will go live on the PlayStation Network on Sept. 4, just in time for the NFL’s opening weekend on Sept. 9.

If you are already a DirecTV subscriber who has the NFL Sunday Ticket Max plan, you will be able to enjoy the PS3 application at no additional charge, allowing you to stream every out-of-market NFL football game, in HD, every Sunday. If you don’t happen to be said customer, then subscribing to the app will set you back $299.95. That seems like a lot of dough to me but, then again, I’ve never really understood the concept of “football fever.” Maybe $300 is a totally fair asking price for the cure.

Along with all of those foosball games, subscribers will also have access to the Red Zone Channel, which wraps up the weekend’s highlights in one nice, neat package.

Finally, Rosenberg says the NFL Sunday Ticket app will help keep you fantasy football players in the know.

“For all of you fantasy football aficionados, the NFL Sunday Ticket app also includes up-to-the-minute stats to help you keep track of every play on the field,” Rosenberg said. “If you play NFL.com fantasy, you can follow your fantasy team in real time while watching games Sunday afternoon.”

That sounds like a whole bunch of football. Get pumped.
