Namco Destroys Capcom With Tekken Tag 2 Trailer, Advertises Pair-Play
Talk about absolutely destroying Capcom with a single trailer. Namco seems to be in it for blood this time around. All the complaints about Street Fighter X Tekken are purposefully advertised in the new trailer for Tekken Tag Tournament 2. Namco - 1, Capcom - 0.
For those that don't remember, Capcom explicitly said that pair-play for Xbox 360 was never advertised, even though it was. Well, Namco is advertising it and saying that they will deliver. They also advertise and boast more than 50 playable fighters, plus unlocks, as well as a "superior" online mode, which still hasn't been completely fixed in Street Fighter X Tekken. You might also note that in order to get 50 characters in Street Fighter X Tekken you have to pay $20 for them even though they're already on your disc.
Pretty much everything everyone had gripes with regarding Capcom's handling of Street Fighter X Tekken is addressed in their new trailer. Props Namco, for going the route of providing plenty of fan-service for your loyals.
Everything about that trailer was so awesome. I especially love the fact that it's a high-octane thrill-ride featuring all the selling points any fighting game fan would want out of a fighter. The four-player scramble and tag-modes, plus additional tag-team moves look wondrous and let's be honest, if you're going to "milk" a franchise THIS is how you do it, with loads of new content, tons of playable characters and a reason to justify the $60 price point.
Basically, Namco's only obstacle now is actually delivering the goods and if they do it will not only make Capcom look like greedy scumbags but it'll prove that you don't have to be greedy scumbags to profit from a loyal community of gamers.
You can look for Tekken Tag Tournament 2 to land on the Xbox 360 and PS3 this September. Need to learn more? Feel free to visit the Official Tekken Website.
