New Call of Duty Feels Like Old Call of Duty

New Call of Duty Feels Like Old Call of Duty After hearing that the Call of Duty: World at War demo--- I mean beta, was available for any Xbox Gold subscriber, I decided to download it. After playing for about two hours, I've come to one conclusion, and one of my good friends put it best: "World at War is totally a World War II mod for CoD4," and she's entirely right.

That's not to say that being exactly the same is a bad thing, far from it. Call of Duty 4 was an incredible game, with a large online community, and I fully expect World at War to follow closely in its footsteps. Of course, the only experience I have with the game is the multiplayer, which is pretty easy to duplicate. The real question is going to be if Treyarch can manage to actually make the campaign interesting; everybody's getting tired of World War II. Regardless of how the actual campaign plays out, I know that tons of people are going to migrate over from CoD4 for no reason other than they're starting to get tired of the same maps and same weapons. This begs the question "what happens to the people who still want to play CoD4?" Is Infinity Ward going to release new maps, or is Activision making them move onto their new game?

Call of Duty: World at War will release on November 11th for Microsoft's Xbox 360, Sony's Playstation 2 and 3, Nintendo's Wii and DS, and the PC. Stay tuned to Blend Games for all the latest details on upcoming games.

  • I am a huge COD4 fan. play it probably everyday, but i agree that world at war is basically the same thing. when i first played WaW, i went into split screen to play with a few of my buddies, and i selected a light machine gun class overkilled a single shot rifle. but i was stunned to see that the light machine gun had almost an ACOG and the single shot rifle had basically a red dot sight. i mean c'mon. did they really have those things in world war 2?? just give us a thompson and some iron sights and let us kill some japs. make it realistic. modern warfare will always stand in my mind as the best video game.
  • you dont know what you talking johnny. they are running off the same game engine. cod4 already look photorealistic. make a direct comparison you will realize that they are the same game with different theme and story thats all. perheps you havent even played cod4 before.
  • COD:WaW is not just a rehash of Modern Warfare. The author of this article feels that way because he only played the demo and not the full game. I bought it yesterday and I'm playing the 4th level in Stalinguard and I have to say the graphic is better than COD4:MW. For whatever screen shots that you have seem so far and thought they were photo realistic, they look even better in motion. Some of the scenes that were memorable and showed the power of COD:WaW's graphic power is the following:

    (SPOLIER..............................)

    The Good:
    +Sweat on your Hand.
+One of the sniper rifles in the Stalinguard level looks like Killzone prerender graphic when you reload.
+The atmosphere in the beginning of the Stalinguard sniper mission is unbelievably real. I thought I was watching Enemies at the Gate.
+The landing on Peleliu is just like the landing scene from Saving Private Ryan.
+The graphics and effect from artillery strike in Peleliu felt so real that I thought I was watching a movie.

    The Bad:
-The face rendering is not detail and does not look as good as Gears of War or Resistance2. But with all the action and atmosphere, does it really matter if the face looks real or not?
-Wine bottles and chair will not break when they are shot at. But if I can shoot an enemy's leg and he stumbles then I can forgive unbreakable chair and bottles.

    The Ugly:
! Burning corpses and a charred heads.
! The Nazis making sure that the Russian are dead by shooting them while they are screaming and lying on the floor by the fountain (best scene from Enemy at the Gate)

  • I don,t think call of duty world at war gonna be a bad game to play because call of duty finest hour, call of duty big red one and call of duty3 are really cool games and they all based on world war 2 and they got very great response from gamers and i love world war 2 too.
