Metroid Prime isn't ready to fade in oblivion just yet. However, the next installment might not be on the Wii.

In a recent interview with ONM, Kensuke Tanabe of Nintendo hinted at the fact that the next Metroid Prime title will take place as a 2D adventure on the Nintendo DS. “We are always planning to make new games in the Metroid Prime series. Depending on the timing and the situation, we cannot deny the possibility of realizing it on DS or DSi,” he said.

Right now nothing is set in stone. It does give DS gamers something to hope for, though.
