The headline doesn’t lie…one of the characters in the game runs around in lace, cheekless lingerie while the main character beats on stitched-together demon toys that look as if they escaped from a Tim Burton film.

Square Enix’s new epic RPG for the PlayStation 3 is a odd and fascinating new title. The action set-pieces are a mix of realtime RPG fighting and new-age hack-and-slash gameplay. It’s definitely not Final Fantasy.

The story follows a fellow who will travel over and beyond to save his sister while facing creative monstrosities. The entire game world of Nier Replicant is an astounding art-piece that combines abstractism and a mechanical visual style that look as if they come out of a dream…neat stuff.
