Nintendo Buys A Television Show To Promote Games If the Big ‘N’ wasn’t big enough in the eyes of gamers, it will certainly become more apparent in the eyes of non-gamers. According to a recent article on Electronic Theatre, Nintendo has announced that they have bought a timeslot and have a show in the works to promote their products.

Nintendo struck the deal with Channel Five’s primtime quiz-show in an advertiser-funded program arrangement. The show, entitled, Britain’s Best Brain (and oddly enough, it’s powered by the Nintendo DS) will air in the fall with eight one-hour programs.

“This television concept is a fantastic opportunity for Nintendo to bring their games heritage to life. I had been on the lookout for Nintendo for some months and already had preliminary negotiations with Five when the idea of Britain’s Best Brain came along via Tiger Aspect.” Says Head of programming at MEC Chantal Rutherford Browne. “The AFP allows Nintendo to align themselves with a particularly appropriate television series, forging a relationship between the TV channel and the brand that is truly symbiotic.”

Well, that’s fine and dandy. What’s more is that the Big ‘N’ will be using the show to thoroughly promote Nintendo DS titles so that the handheld can further dominate the sales charts. As if it’s not already making the 360 and PS3 look bad enough?
