One of the most touted features of Guitar Hero: World Tour is the new Studio Mode allowing players to create their own songs. Don't go doing something stupid like making covers of existing songs and sharing them, though, or you'll reap the whirlwind.
Okay, the FBI and/or Lars Ulrich isn't going to rappel through your window and arrest you for copyright infringement if you try to share your covers. However, Activision will pull down any covers of copyrighted songs they find being shared online. "If there's a licensed song and someone holds the copyright to it, we'll take it down regardless of whether or not someone complains," World Tour director Brian Bright said in an interview with 1UP.
Bright doesn't mention any other punishment other than Activision taking the song off the Interwebz. No ban? No strongly worded letter? We'll see what happens when the game launches; I imagine a lot of users will try and share them anyway. It's not like Activision or Neversoft has put a lot of effort into publicizing this particular policy.
