No Hitler In Wolfenstein
There will be many strange things in the next-gen Wolfenstein game. However, Hitler and his stupid Oliver Hardy moustache will not make an appearance.
The endboss of 1992 game Wolfenstein 3D was Hitler in a giant mechanized suit. The PS3/Xbox 360/PC Wolfenstein coming this summer is set after Wolfenstein 3D and the follow-up Return to Castle Wolfenstein so it wouldn't fit for him to appear in the new game. It might be a bizarre storyline but the developers want it to be coherent.
"In this game there will be no Hitler. We love ‘Mecha Hitler.’ Obviously, he’s one of the classic bad guys in videogames," id Software Peter Sokal told Destructoid. "It’s so famous in Wolf 3D when you finally killed him off, but this time around -- like I said -- it takes place after the events of Return to Castle Wolfenstein. So, we wanted to expand on that story, make it a lot deeper story arc this time around. For the story we were trying to tell this time, it just didn’t really fit to have Hitler and Mecha Hitler in the game.”
Don't fret, though. I'm sure they'll have some other prominent, mutated Nazi for you to slay - vampire Himmler, maybe. Wolfenstein's out on August 4th for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
