Contrary to the rumors, Guitar Hero: World Tour won't be shipping with a new instrument. Just a guitar, microphone, and drum set, like Rock Band. Bad news for all of you who were hoping for an electric violin. However, there is some truth to the rumor.
Last week, G4 claimed that Neversoft project director Brian Bright had revealed GH:WT would have a new peripheral for use in Studio mode (the new game mode where you compose your own music). They then speculated the peripheral would be a keyboard because well...what the hell else is it going to be? A harmonium?
A rep from Red Octane shot down those rumors, though. They revealed to G4 that while you'll be able to add keyboard sounds in Studio Mode, those sounds will be provided by the guitar. The silver lining is that you can pretend you're playing a keytar, at least. To take a shotgun to this zombie of a story, Joystiq interviewed Bright today and he confirmed there was no keyboard peripheral. So there.
