Imagine Tiger Woods going eighteen holes and then punching a guy in the face and speeding off in his golf cart. Now imagine Tiger is a cartoon piece of food, and you’re in the right mindset for Aqua Teen Hunger Force Zombie Ninja Pro-Am. I can imagine all the people who don’t watch Adult Swim reading these past two sentences and wondering what the hell kids these days are laughing at. But if you’re anything like me, this sounds like comedy gold.

It’s an action game, in the vein of any number of cartoons that have turned into video games. It’s also a racer, which is still understandable if a little strange. But on top of that, it’s a golf game, which for some reason makes this game seem completely awesome. I’ve grown bored of cartoon shows becoming games in which all you do is fight. This twist on the norm is exactly what we’ve come to expect from Aqua Teen Hunger Force, which is, of course, the unexpected.

The story is comparable to an episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Frylock gets an invitation to join a golf club, and Master Shake and Meatwad tag along because we all know they can’t take care of themselves (nor would they miss out on Frylock’s fun). So you fight creatures on a golf course, golf, and then jump in your cart and race to the next hole. Does that sound sublimely insane to anyone else?
It’s refreshing to see Adult Swim producing games that are outside the norm. In addition to Zombie Ninja Pro-Am, Williams Street (the production company for all the Adult Swim cartoons) is working with Capcom on the upcoming Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law game which will use the Phoenix Wright game play mechanics. Anything that is not a sloppy action/platformer with character voices is welcomed in my book.
