Sony didn't waste a single second at their E3 press conference, despite running into some minor lag problems with the live demonstration of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. Nevertheless, the conference was a streamlined success as far as content, features and reveals went, including Sony unveiling the official look of the PS4.

Wrapping up the conference, Sony made it known that the PlayStation 4 will be available this holiday season with more than 140 games released throughout the first year the console will be available. In addition to this, Sony has announced an official pricepoint of $399.99. Yes, let me repeat that one more time so that you can properly read the number while the booming sound of “Fatality” plays in the background and the Xbox One falls into a pit full of spikes and acid...

The PlayStation 4 will be available this holiday season for $399.99 in U.S. Or £349.99 in the U.K.

Of course, various regions will have various prices but the above are the standard for U.S. and U.K. Territories. It's $100 cheaper than the Xbox One, which will launch this November for the price of $499.99 or £429.99 in the U.K.

If you're not strapped for cash and you don't mind the Kinect being a surveillance device for PRISM, and you don't mind having to check-in every 24 hours for your content and you don't mind not being able to borrow or lend games, then by all means the Xbox One will be right up your alley. For everyone else, the PlayStation 4 and Wii U await.
